Hi,
I am working on studying moving phantoms, and so I compiled ctsim-4.2.3 from
source code into a linux box so that I can alter it to read non-static
phantoms. The problem I have encountered is that ctsimtext takes 15-20
times (!) longer to compute a given command than does the CTSim gui. This
problem doesn't seem to do with my adjustments to the source code, because
the CTSim GUI runs so quickly, and because another user has altered the
source code in his directory and it runs quickly.

An example of a slow command:
>> ctsimtext phm2pj test.pj 367 320 --phantom herman
This command takes 30-45 seconds to compute via ctsimtext, while projecting
the same in the GUI takes only 1-2 seconds. Since I am running a script
file which computes dozens of succesive computations, the added computing
time is extremely inconvenient.

Both ctsim and ctsimtext are installed in a non-standard location. There is
another version of ctsim installed in /usr/local/bin, which is unaltered and
works quickly, and a third version of ctsimtext installed in another users'
directory that is altered in the same way as my version, and it also works
quickly.

What could be responsible for this significant computing time difference?

Luke
